Launching Credit Card to Excel Converter tool on Gumroad

DECEMBER 11, 2025 AT 10:18 AM UTC

I've been building the main application for bookkeepers and accountants for a while now (check it out at books77.com), and recently I built something I thought was actually useful: a standalone AI-powered converter that turns Canadian bank credit card statements into clean CSV/Excel files. You can try it here. The problem it solves is real bookkeepers and accountants spend hours manually typing transactions from PDFs, and I thought this could save them serious time.

But building it was only half the battle. I needed to actually get it in front of people. After considering a few options, I researched and decided to launch on Gumroad. (I have been writing about Books77 itself on LinkedIn).

Why Gumroad?

Honestly? It was the path of least resistance. I just wanted a place where new customers can discover Books77. Gumroad handles this. Plus, I liked the idea of a one-time payment model - no subscription fatigue, just buy it and use it forever. Of course, customers will need to bring their own API key to make it a sustainable business model.

The setup was straightforward. Create a product page, write a description, set a price, and you're live. No applie-like approval process, no waiting. I had it up in an afternoon.

The Bottom Line

It is still early days. I launched on Gumroad a few days ago. I am yet to discover if Gumroad was the right choice for this product. It removed all the friction of where to launch or list the tool. Now, I could focus on building and supporting the tool instead of building a business around selling it.
